What is simplyprose?

~simplyprose is a club similar to *bevelled-edge when it was still active. ~simplyprose aims to provide a place on DA where prose writers can feature their prose pieces without a selection process.

But there's a catch! ~simplyprose is more than just a place for people to pimp their work. We hope to generate new prose pieces on DA. For this reason, ~simplyprose will only feature prose pieces that have been written for prompts that ~simplyprose has provided. These prompts will hopefully also serve as points of inspiration for those who want to write but just don't have the inspiration.

How does it work?

Every month, a new journal entry will be put up with the month's prompts. There will be four types of prompts: a scenario-type prompt, a character-type prompt, a word association prompt, and a miscellaneous-category prompt.

You can write for a single prompt, or for a combination of prompts. We ask that you send in a maximum of four pieces a time. Each submitted prose piece cannot have overlapping prompts.

For example: I can send in a piece written for the scenario-type prompt and a piece responds to a combination of character-type prompt, and word association prompt.

I cannot send in a piece written for the scenario prompt and a piece responding to a combination of scenario (again) and word association prompt.

What kinds of prose pieces can I send in to be featured?

All kinds! ~simplyprose welcomes all prose pieces except for fanfiction. We do not feature fanfiction because we feel that while fanfiction can be useful in some cases, original writing needs more much more encouragement and exposure on DA.

How do I send work in to be featured?

Just send a note to us with a link to the work that you want to be featured, with the prompt category, title, and approximate word count (just for categorizing reasons).

If you send in multiple pieces, please be sure to label the links clearly.

The first set of prompt for March 2008 will be up on Sunday! Keep a lookout!

Future plans

~simplyprose is still debating on whether or not to have a memberlist (in the manner of clubs) or to open it to everyone and serve simply as a meeting place for prose writers. Please comment if you have arguments for either one or the other option.

In the future there may be "featured" pieces chosen from the submitted works, and "featured" contributors, but at this point, ~simplyprose is focusing on getting this project off the ground!
